SHORT SEA SHIPPING DAN INTERMODA UNTUK ANGKUTAN BARANG
Abstract
Short Sea Shipping telah banyak digunakan di negara Asia, Eropa dan Amerika. SSS sebagai moda transportasi laut alternatif karena dapat mengurangi kemacetan dan keterlambatan pada sistem transportasi jalan, mempunyai biaya yang kompetitif daripada moda lain seperti kereta api dan jalan raya, waktu tempuh lebih singkat dengan melintasi selat atau teluk, dan rendahnya pencemaran udara yang ditimbulkannya. Transportasi intermoda adalah pergerakan barang dalam satu dan unit pengangkutan yang sama atau kendaraan yang berturut-turut menggunakan dua atau lebih moda transportasi tanpa penanganan barang itu sendiri dalam mengubah moda. Untuk mengembangan SSS perlu integrasi penuh dalam rantai pasok antar moda sehingga SSS layak dari segi biaya dan waktu dibandingkan dengan moda darat/truk.
