Manga Interpretation Based on Ateji Classification in Terms of Perspectives in Shounen Magazine

Abstract
Manga interpretation based on ateji classification in Shounen magazine is a linguistic overview of ateji, which is a case of a letter not following the rules of reading or meaning. This article attempted to explain the ateji classification of manga in the 30th issue of Shounen magazine published in 2024. Data was from manga sources with various genres were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques, with the classification of ateji and ruby in terms of perspectives. The results of the analysis indicated that the classification of ateji in this study are divided into the following classifications: (i) ruby of subjective understanding into an expression of objective understanding with 40 data; (ii) ruby of objective understanding into an expression of subjective understanding with 12 data; (iii) interrelated ateji with a total of 8 data; and (iv) ateji involving various perspectives with 9 data.
