Defense Mechanism of Denial in the Character Ryohei in the Film Okaasan Ore wa Daijoubu

Abstract
This study aims to analyze the self-defense mechanisms of the main character in the film "Okaasan, Ore wa Daijoubu." The method used is descriptive qualitative, with observation and note-taking from scenes and dialog. The results show that self-defense mechanisms naturally emerge to protect oneself from anxiety when experiencing conflict. Through the internal conflict experienced by the main character, the self-defense mechanism of denial emerges to combat this conflict.
