ANALISIS TEMATIK JAPANESE BUZZWORDS 2020

Abstrak
Sejak tahun 1984 di Jepang, setiap tahunnya, sebuah perusahaan penerbitan bernama Jiyu Kokuminsha Co. Ltd. bekerja sama dengan U-Can selalu mengadakan pemilihan untuk mengetahui kata-kata yang populer dan banyak digunakan dalam tahun tersebut, pemilihan tersebut bernama “U-Can Shingo Ryukogo Taisho 2020†atau dalam bahasa Inggris diesbut U-Can New Words and Buzzwords. Ada 30 nominasi dalam polling tersebut setiap tahunnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimanakah tren buzzwords di Jepang pada tahun 2020. Dengan adanya penelitian ini diharapkan bisa berkontribusi terhadap pemahaman tren di Jepang pada tahun 2020 dari kategori kata-kata yang sering digunakan, atau populer di kalangan masyarakat pada tahun tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode Analisis Tematik. Dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa terdapat 5 kategori buzzwords tahun 2020, yaitu: (1) hiburan; (2) covid-19; (3) olahraga; (4) sosial; dan (5) politik. Sebaran kata menurut kategori tersebut adalah sebagai berikut: (1) 9 kata untuk kategori hiburan; (2) 17 kata untuk kategori covid-19; (3) 1 kata untuk kategori olahraga; (4) 2 kata untuk kategori sosial; dan (5) 1 kata untuk kategori politik.

Abstract
Since 1984 in Japan, every year, a publishing company called Jiyu Kokuminsha Co. Ltd. in collaboration with U-Can always hold a polling to find out which words are popular and widely used that year, the polling is called “U-Can Shingo Ryukogo Taisho†or in English it is called U-Can New Words and Buzzwords. There are 30 nominations in the poll each year. This study aims to find out how the buzzwords trend in Japan in 2020. This research is expected to contribute to understanding trends in Japan in 2020 from the category of words that are often used, or popular among the public that year. This research is a qualitative research with thematic analysis method. From this study it was found that there are 5 categories of buzzwords in 2020, namely: (1) entertainment; (2) covid-19; (3) sports; (4) social; and (5) politics. The word distribution according to these categories is as follows: (1) 9 words for the entertainment category; (2) 17 words for the covid-19 category; (3) 1 word for sports category; (4) 2 words for social category; and (5) 1 word for the political category.
