Drone Bayraktar TB2 sebagai Instrumen Diplomasi Pertahanan Internasional Turki

Abstract

The use of the Turkish-made Bayraktar TB 2 Drone in the Azerbaijan war led to a lot of speculation about Turkey's role as the new axis of the modern arms supply country. This study uses the theory of Defense Diplomacy from a non-coercive perspective to analyze the use of drones as a diplomacy instrument. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive with secondary data sources from books, journals and mass media reports. The results of this study indicate that the development of the Bayraktar TB2 Drone by Turkey has an effect on the work system of defense diplomacy, especially in the efforts of Confidence Building Measures (CBMs), increasing defense capabilities by conducting joint military exercises, and defense industry cooperation, which is marked by the signing of agreements or MoUs with various countries in the development of weapons on an international scale. Sources of data on the use of drones as instruments of defense diplomacy are still limited to be a drawback of this research, so that ongoing research is still very much needed as a complement to the data from this research.
