External Conflict of Character Willy Wonka in the Novel “Charlie and The Great Glass Elevator” by Roald Dahl

Abstract

This research discusses the occurrence of external conflict in the character Willy Wonka in the novel Charlie and The Great Glass Elevator by Roald Dahl. This research focuses on conflicts that occur between other characters, nature, and Willy Wonka's character. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with an objective approach. The result of this research is that the novel Cahrlie and The Great Glass Elevator by Roald Dahl has several external conflicts that occur. First, the social conflict that occurs between the character Willy Wonka and other characters caused by several events. Second, the physical or natural conflict between Willy Wonka and the fog that hinders him when he is looking for the whereabouts of Georgina's grandmother on Minus Island.
